Good morning, esteemed guests. You had quite an eventful weekend, didn't you? Let's see how you're able to move on now...

As you awaken on Monday, you’ll find that things are just as they were the night before. The kitchen will serve piping hot breakfast during the morning hours, the pool’s been stocked with fresh towels and the gardens are open for anyone who wishes to spend some time among nature. However, should you explore a bit, you’ll find that a few new changes have been made to the hotel itself.

Your room service menus are still on your desks if you wish to browse before leaving for the day.

The front door no longer spins endlessly, for one thing. Should you make an attempt to exit the hotel, you will find yourself entering a new location. Some of you may even find this place familiar. However, you will find that upon entering the location, the area to the north is fixed to one place.

In addition, should you enter the elevator you will find a new button appears, proudly reading 05. Pushing this button will take you to a new floor where you will also find a few new areas to peruse. Explore to your heart’s content, get to know more of the hotel, and take your time in learning more about each other.

After everything last week, you may feel like it's time to put all of your feelings back inside and bury them away. You were...affectionate? How embarrassing for you. Perhaps that's something you'd like to forget. Conveniently for you...that may happen to you this week. Throughout the week, guests will find that they will experience small instances of "loss" occurring to them. You may find yourself losing certain memories, certain skills, or even certain senses. Don't worry, they will always come back after a while! But it seems that these instances come and go without warning. Hopefully you can prepare yourself for that.

Finally, for those of you with a spare ticket in your pocket, feel free to visit the Starlight Gift Shop, stocked with new items for this week.

All right. So you put your hand on my shoulder here!

[ and he will put his hand on their waist... what is their height compared to his, actually? ]

[there's maybe an inch or two of a difference in height! but they put their hand on his shoulder and allow for the other on their waist even if they tense up unintentionally.]

You really are leading, okay. So it's just...a four-count? Is that what we're doing? [help.]

Um, well, this is a waltz so it's in 3/4 time! The first beat is like, the heavy downbeat where you do the bigger move? And then the other two are lighter and you don't move as much on those.

So like— [ he demonstrates with some simple steps. ] ...one-two-three, one-two-three. Like that!

[they seem to follow pretty easily, actually. their steps are nearly silent and they more or less kind of glide across the floor.]

Sort of just leading with your front foot and letting the rest follow. If you don't lay out the groundwork with the first step you lose the rhythm. Right?

Did you just mean you'd never learned how to do this kind of dance? It sounds like you know what you're doing...

No. I'm just a fast learner, I guess. I've never really had time for this kind of stuff.

Apparently... What kind of things were you usually doing? ...Uh, like, broadly speaking, I guess?

Broadly speaking? I kind of dabble in a little of everything. My attention's all over the place on a good day. I haven't really had a set hobby or anything for a while though. Work takes priority.

Well, what do you like doing when you do have time? Or... if you had time?

Games, I guess. Strategy kind of stuff, I'm not great with video games. I don't mind doing stuff outside either. Traveling. You know? Just seeing what I can find in new places. I used to move around a lot.

Huh... that sounds pretty cool. I only even left the state I lived in a few times.

[ though tbf that state was california. ]

Do you know how to play chess?

It's not so bad. I've been to a bunch of states and a few countries for different things, but I'm starting to settle down again for now. [they tilt their head at that though.]

Never learned chess though. I mean I know what it is but I've never really played it.

Yeah, me neither... I was going to ask if you had tips for learning to play if you did.

[ yes he does have a fake chessboard with permanently attached pieces in his room. it would have been just for show even if it was a real board and didn't literally exist for that express purpose. ]

Well chess is about reading your opponent's moves and countering, isn't it? Like a war. You retaliate based on what moves they make. So if you understand your opponent and how they plan to attack, you can probably block their moves and take their pieces.

So try to think about what they're like and what kind of moves you think they'd make...? I guess... that makes sense...

[yeah that's just how it works now.]

Exactly. I think a lot of things can be figured out if you watch people and know what to watch for. If you know how a person thinks, you can shake them up and surprise them.
