WEEKEND ZERO: MINGLE PT2

W̴͍̎E̴̝̊E̸͚͝K̸͕̿ ZERO: MINGLE
(35 ḡ̴̻u̷͌͜ê̴̯s̶̢͑t̵̻͝s̴̡̐ ̴c̴h̴e̶c̴k̷e̶d̸ ̶i̴n̴)
Needless to say, marble isn't exactly the most comfortable surface to sleep on. Do you even remember falling asleep? Maybe not, but the moment your eyes flutter open and the lingering stardust fades, you come into consciousness with the distinct feeling that your dreams were very important.
You vaguely remember a shadowed hand, the pen and the scroll in its grip as the terms and conditions glow softly before you. You can't quite remember the details, the words blurring and fading fasting the longer you try, but you come to a conclusion rather quickly:
-Someone you care about is in trouble and their life is now your responsibility.
-You have signed a contract to provide entertainment to the Host in exchange for their safe return.
Your other memories begin to settle now that you're more awake. You remember that this isn't the first time you've been swept away for a game by someone else's design. You remember what those games entailed, too, but as the pieces click together you get the sense that murdering everyone around you isn't a solution. It won't get your hostage back sooner. It will only end tragically for everyone involved.
So instead, perhaps it's time to take in your surroundings. Where the hell even are you now? The marble floor of the lobby is still cool to the touch, and the front desk is before you with several keys on hooks against the wall. Each of them includes a keychain with two small, clear star-shaped crystals embedded at the bottom. Too bad you can't seem to remove the keys just yet! Guest accommodations aren't quite ready.
Ah, right. About that. You aren't alone! After all, what's the fun in playing a game by yourself? Should one try to actually count the keys hanging on the wall, you'll find there are 35 in total. You can also learn more about them should you look at the leather-bound book bolted to the front desk. Though some of them may look a bit different, seeing how everyone gathered in the lobby is dressed to the nines. What happened to your other clothing? Worry not. You do want to be presentable at the front desk, don't you?
Speaking of the front desk, while you aren't able to retrieve your keys or even leave the ground floor right now, you will find small gift boxes scattered around the desk as a complementary gift for each guest. Inside these boxes, you will find:
-A flask. Those of legal drinking age will find it filled with a sweet wine, and those underage will find juice of some kind.
-A shaving kit
- A single aspirin
-A keychain
-A condolence card
-A sheet of temporary tattoos
-A small bag of jerky
-A compact mirror with a cute pattern on the outer casing
No other items are on your person even if you were holding onto them prior to your arrival. Perhaps the bellhop has already taken your luggage for you?
But despite the front desk hosting a small cluster of bells, ringing them doesn't seem to draw the attention of anyone. The bells cannot be removed from the desk, but the hotel staff appears to be occupied with other tasks.
It looks as though you're on your own for now until maintenance is finished. But it's just like the first time, isn't it? Get to know the other guests, start asking questions, and settle in for your stay.
You can check-out any time you like, but you can never leave...

eerily quiet, really. there should be more ambient noise out here - the rustling of plants in the wind, maybe the shouts of people enjoying the nearby pool. but there's just the very faintest whisper of wind, not nearly loud enough to be truly outdoors. the grinding of stone against stone, too, but it's almost muted as they step outside.
kazunari's shout echoes a bit.
and then the sound of grinding stone grows louder. bradley will catch motion out of the corner of his eye, on his left; kazunari will catch motion out of the corner of his eye, on his right.
what will they do?]
no subject
[That name means nothing to him.
He immediately starts moving to his left. If that's what he sees, that's where he goes.]
no subject
[ his eyes are tracking that movement to the right, but he turns back when bradley walks off. ]
...Hm? Did you see something? [ is splitting up a good idea? ...probably too late, though, so whatevs! he'll slowly head that way, but he's glancing back now and then to keep an eye on brad. ] Something moved over there, too... Hey~! Is someone out here? We want to say hi!
no subject
But, up ahead - within his sights - is the statue of Riku. Only... It's on the path, not out among the other statues.
Kazunari will see something similar: the statue of Fret, within his sights. Still and unmoving. Only... every time he looks away, he'll hear the grinding of stone on stone again. And when he looks back, the statue is a little closer than it was.]

Maybe it's a weird spell? Maybe it's meant to be unsettling?]
Are these things movin'?
no subject
Uwaah! Mariiiii, don't scare me like that!
Mari is def moving, Brad! But only when I look away from him? [ puffs out his cheeks. ] If they wanted to play a game, they could've just said so!
no subject
Kazunari is also looking at the statue, since you haven't said he looks away. Similarly, it does not move.
It's very quiet. There's the whisper of a breeze...
...
And also buzzing? Huh. Sounds like bees.
Sounds like they're getting closer.]
no subject
[The bees are coming closer? There are bees here?
He blinks and thinks about the bee class.]
Did ya run into bees in the prism?
no subject
[ he does look away because of bees, though! where are they coming from, can they tell?
he will look back at fret a second later with a smile! no surprise if the statue moves again. ]
Hey, hey, Mari! Isn't this just like that one episode of that Western drama? The one with the angels! Were you a fan of it, too?
no subject
Kazunari looks away. It sounds like the bees are coming from behind them - and rather rapidly, at that! They're going to get stung if they don't get moving.
When he looks back, the statue of Fret's arms are outstretched, too. Its hands are mere inches from Kazunari's throat.
Neither statue speaks.
The bees buzz angrily.]
no subject
[He stares at Riku closely. Closer huh? Alright. Reaching for him? Weird.]
How fast can ya run, Artist?
no subject
[ he's just casually backing away from statue fret, still smiling! this is! fine! ]
I'm not much of a runner, TBH...
no subject
I did warn you both: They're going to get stung if they don't get moving. The statues, for now, are not moving, because Bradley is staring and Kazunari is backing away with his eyes on him.
But... The bees overtake them. These are some angry, angry bees, and they're caught up in the middle of a swarm of them. They will wind up with a total of fifteen bee stings between the two of them - hope neither of them is allergic!
Unfortunately, this is a thoroughly unpleasant experience, and in dealing with the bees they're going to take their eyes off the statues out of necessity. As they're engulfed by the swarm, they'll occasionally catch sight of the statues - unmoving, but closer each time, arms outstretched...
Until they make contact with them.
Immediately, their minds are filled with screaming. The screams sound familiar - like people they know and care about, though not the specific people they've agreed to come here for - and after few horrifying moments of this, everything goes black.
When they wake, they find themselves collapsed on the ground at the entrance to the courtyard. The bees are gone. The statues are back in their usual places.
But they've still got their bee stings to nurse, and they will hear their friends screaming in the back of their minds for the next hour.]
