Good morning, esteemed guests.

Ha. Hahaha.

As you awaken on Monday, you’ll find that things are just as they were the night before. The kitchen will serve piping hot breakfast during the morning hours, the pool’s been stocked with fresh towels and the gardens are open for anyone who wishes to spend some time among nature. However, should you explore a bit, you’ll find that a few new changes have been made to the hotel itself.

Your room service menus are still on your desks if you wish to browse before leaving for the day.

The front door no longer spins endlessly, for one thing. Should you make an attempt to exit the hotel, you will find yourself entering a new location.

In addition, should you enter the elevator you will find...nothing? There are no new buttons. However, if you look on the Mezzanine you will find a few new areas to peruse. These rooms are still locked from the outside, but perhaps you may ask politely and be granted access. In addition, as you explore the hotel you will find that you have now lost access to certain rooms. How odd.

The portraits from the week before continue to hang in various parts of the hallways and in the rooms themselves, continuing to depict innocuous scenes. Like before, if you linger just a touch too long, you'll soon find that you and whomever you're with will be lost in a swirl of shadows and pulled directly into the portrait itself. You will have to find your way out just like before.

Strangely, however, you no longer have that connection with the person you are with. You're no longer in sync, unable to feel their thoughts or movement or really even have to cooperate. Instead, regardless of where you are in the hotel whether it's inside a portrait, a door, or even your own room, you will begin to experience a feeling of numbness. Perhaps it starts in your body, the inability to feel pain or the touch of someone's hand. Maybe it infiltrates your emotions, quieting everything you've been feeling lately to an even, neutral stance. After a while, you may become so numb you feel yourself fading away entirely, a limb slowly being erased, but you can quickly snap back if someone addresses you.

Try to keep yourselves grounded, everyone.

MONDAY

CEMETERY
► Fresh white chrysanthemums have been left on all of the graves. White roses have been left at Flayn's grave. A Lily of the Valley is left on Marie's.

HOTEL
► Around the hotel, at various times shadows increase in numbers and plunge a room into darkness for a few seconds. Pieces of the walls will crumble as you walk past. Cracks appear in the flooring if you stand still too long. The staircase flattens and becomes a slide to send you backwards and falling.
► Upon entering some of the permanently darkened rooms, you will find yourself thrown into a portrait or a hallway door for you to escape. All effects of these portraits and doors are in place.
► On occasion, you may hear a whisper that sounds unintelligible at first, but as the volume grows louder you hear: "Do you want to keep them safe?" When you look, no one is around.

LOBBY; MONDAY

[wow it's a monday morning mingle prompt. harrow and lup are both here in the lobby, holding tickets.]

The bus tickets let us bring someone back from the dead. Lup and I bought both of them, which is somewhat unfortunate - we didn't realize quite how significant they'd be. But also, none of us from the station actually died, so fortunately we cannot quite be biased in our own favor, either.

We plan on using these sooner rather than later, but it seemed wise to have a discussion first. We will listen to arguments about the most fair approach before deciding what to do. If the dead have opinions, and you can get us letters today, we would hear your views as well.

[also please note that while we can discuss for OOC reasons we don't want to put this to a vote. so we can make suggestions and come to a consensus about our approach but we're not going to go by majority on who we pick.]

I do not anticipate any of us would be so quick to leave anyone behind.

Maybe we'll luck out and get a letter saying who'd be the best choice.

[Translation: he thinks asking the dead for their opinions would be best.]

For the record, I don't intend to make this an exercise in persuading me of the intensity of anyone's feelings, in part because I believe it's a bit cruel to ask.

If we cannot make out a case that there is a reason to choose someone for the good of the group as a whole including the dead or due to objective criteria - such as age or the identity of someone's hostage being particularly sensitive - then our last priority will be emotional reasoning, and I'll decide based on my own feelings and no one else's.

The person I would most want to bring back is Aikawa, so once we're at the point of emotional appeals, that's who I will pick.

Still, I don't know how to begin to choose... There are so many people I want to see again.

For now. [...] On the station, we were able to bring someone back before the end, and she was able to pass along some information. Rather than consider this the "only" two we save, my hope would be we could accomplish the same thing here.

Agreed, but on the other hand, it is possible that the most important thing is to get the information the dead know and are having redacted over to our side as soon as possible. For this reason, I plan to use my ticket by the end of the day whether or not I've heard anything.

Still, they might not be able to get to us in time, and we should go ahead and make the decision. Delaying it is going to make things worse.

Do you think they'd remember what happened on their side? There's a possibility they'll forget everything.

I think the dead should get to decide their own fates. So they should probably send us a list of people we can then decide to pick from. But it better be a good list.

[She looks worried still, but she nods.]

I know. Of course we will.

That's such a hard thing to choose, though...

Well there's two, right? If you're gonna use yours by the end of the day, then that gives them time to talk. You could use yours to bring one back late tonight, and then talk to that person. If we guessed right, then cool. But if we guessed wrong, then Lup can use the second ticket to bring back whoever the first person says to bring back. If we do it right we could have both brought back before Tuesday morning.

I have some ideas on who my pick would be, but I wanted to talk about it with people. No bad blood.

Well, it should probably be someone who died without being able to do anything for their hostage. Just in case.
