WEEK SEVEN: MINGLE

W̴͍̎E̴̝̊E̸͚͝K̸͕̿ SEVEN: MINGLE
(18 ḡ̴̻u̷͌͜ê̴̯s̶̢͑t̵̻͝s̴̡̐ ̴c̴h̴e̶c̴k̷e̶d̸ ̶i̴n̴)
Good morning, esteemed guests.
Ha. Hahaha.
As you awaken on Monday, you’ll find that things are just as they were the night before. The kitchen will serve piping hot breakfast during the morning hours, the pool’s been stocked with fresh towels and the gardens are open for anyone who wishes to spend some time among nature. However, should you explore a bit, you’ll find that a few new changes have been made to the hotel itself.
Your room service menus are still on your desks if you wish to browse before leaving for the day.
The front door no longer spins endlessly, for one thing. Should you make an attempt to exit the hotel, you will find yourself entering a new location.
In addition, should you enter the elevator you will find...nothing? There are no new buttons. However, if you look on the Mezzanine you will find a few new areas to peruse. These rooms are still locked from the outside, but perhaps you may ask politely and be granted access. In addition, as you explore the hotel you will find that you have now lost access to certain rooms. How odd.
The portraits from the week before continue to hang in various parts of the hallways and in the rooms themselves, continuing to depict innocuous scenes. Like before, if you linger just a touch too long, you'll soon find that you and whomever you're with will be lost in a swirl of shadows and pulled directly into the portrait itself. You will have to find your way out just like before.
Strangely, however, you no longer have that connection with the person you are with. You're no longer in sync, unable to feel their thoughts or movement or really even have to cooperate. Instead, regardless of where you are in the hotel whether it's inside a portrait, a door, or even your own room, you will begin to experience a feeling of numbness. Perhaps it starts in your body, the inability to feel pain or the touch of someone's hand. Maybe it infiltrates your emotions, quieting everything you've been feeling lately to an even, neutral stance. After a while, you may become so numb you feel yourself fading away entirely, a limb slowly being erased, but you can quickly snap back if someone addresses you.
Try to keep yourselves grounded, everyone.
Finally, for those of you with a spare ticket in your pocket, feel free to visit the Starlight Gift Shop, stocked with new items for this week.

STATUS
MONDAY
LOBBY; MONDAY
Lobby, discussion.
[wow it's a monday morning mingle prompt. harrow and lup are both here in the lobby, holding tickets.]
The bus tickets let us bring someone back from the dead. Lup and I bought both of them, which is somewhat unfortunate - we didn't realize quite how significant they'd be. But also, none of us from the station actually died, so fortunately we cannot quite be biased in our own favor, either.
We plan on using these sooner rather than later, but it seemed wise to have a discussion first. We will listen to arguments about the most fair approach before deciding what to do. If the dead have opinions, and you can get us letters today, we would hear your views as well.
[also please note that while we can discuss for OOC reasons we don't want to put this to a vote. so we can make suggestions and come to a consensus about our approach but we're not going to go by majority on who we pick.]

She takes a small breath and after she's heard enough of the arguments, she'll say: ]
I agree that it should be someone whose hostage isn't secured. If they are all circulating their information, any of them should be fine - even if they aren't able to remember everything once they're here.
I think at that point it's fine to go by your choice.

small shadows curl around the corners of the doors, and there's a soft sound coming from inside - the occasional, semi-distant thump noise from behind the currently closed door. molly and tsuru specifically will feel like something important is going to happen in this area, and that they ought to check it out. the door is unlocked, after all. why wouldn't it be?
they also might feel as though this moment of importance shouldn't be watched by the wrong set of eyes, though, while they're at it... ]

[ hi, molly and tsuru are here? ]
Me and this sword got married. We found some guy under the floorboards of the chapel.
[ that's it thats my top level. ]

Oh! Uh, okay. But— hey, guys, we got a response about who they want us to bring back!!
[ he will share: ]
I, um... would personally vote for Bucky and Zuko, I think, which I'll admit is kind of biased... but, um, I-I'm okay with whatever we decide! Probably!
...Except, uh, who is... [ squints ] ...Souji?

shadows appear to be exiting through the doorway, and as they enter they will see that all of the shelves have rearranged themselves into a long, winding maze. the shelf behind them swings around to trap them inside, and a trail of books begin to lead them inside.

A THING...
small, shadowy butterflies are flittering out of the garden and into the hallway - though they dissolve into nothingness before they get too far away. as they enter, they will find that the gardens are eerily quiet, and that there's no sign of the usual twilight through the windows. instead, shadows have formed over the glass.
there are no white butterflies in this room. just the darker ones, which are flitting about and haven't seemed to notice them... yet.
they also might feel as though that maybe what they're about to do shouldn't be watched by the wrong set of eyes, though, while they're at it... luckily there's still a typewriter in the room.]

lobby-obby-obby; wednesday
[ when they arrive in the lobby, yuri and futaba are already there. ]
Found a girl in a tree in the butterfly garden, similar to the past couple of days. I think I can guess who it is, but discretion is the better part of valour. Place was full of those dark, doomsday butterflies and once we let one land on us we got these... weird masks made of light, just for long enough for us to actually find the tree.
[ he shrugs. ]
I don't know if anyone else has anything to share or anything they feel they can talk about, but it felt better to do things this way rather than commit it to paper.
no subject
[ damn binghe really got the short end of the stick by being stuck in the fucking floor. f to him. ]
I do have a question though. I still have my candy and it's better if I use it now than later. The options I have right now are for changing fashion choices, or for cemetery pathways. Does anyone have a preference?

A THING...WEDNESDAY
Meanwhile, inside the hotel itself guests will find that the shadows are crawling even further along the walls. Patches of black ice appear on various parts of the floor, sometimes so suddenly you may not have time to notice before slipping and sliding. You may want to consider stealing some gloves from the costume closet, too, before your hands get too cold and frost-bitten.
And finally, everyone's typewriters will soon chime with a new message.
Maybe you should take a visit.
A THING...THURSDAY EVENING...1/???
…you hear a splash from the convenience store.
It sounds like the crashing of an ocean wave, and a thud is heard. There’s the cry of seagulls that echo throughout the hall, and the salty scent of the sea can be detected. As you round the corner, you’ll be in time to catch the glimpse of a figure on the ground, an open refrigerated case above them with water leaking out onto the floor. Said-figure appears to be in a deep sleep, not unlike the others you’ve found this week. Upon being spotted, there’s only enough time for you to register their appearance before the lights go out entirely. When they come up, the figure is gone and the store is back to its original state.
Exiting the store, you may think nothing of it. But there’s soon a rumbling in the walls. It sounds like an earthquake, almost, but nothing appears to be shaking and moving. Where is it coming from? It’s quieter the higher you go, louder on the lower floors and it’s only when you reach floor 02 that you realize something might be wrong.
The shadows near the employee lounge continue to block it off, but there’s a portrait of the Starlight Hotel hanging nearby. There’s a storm in the picture, lightning mid-strike and rain pounding down, wind picking up almost like a tornado and an earthquake and a tsunami all in one attempting to tear the walls down.
The portrait’s frame begins to shake. It shakes, rattles, and nearly falls off of the floor before there’s a varying amount of sounds from inside.
Without warning, several uniformed bodies tumble through it, pushing, pulling and fighting their way out. Inky smudges stain them in different places, but as the last of them exits the portrait finally falls and shatters with a crack. Inside, the picture displays the hotel on that stormy night, but with a new addition to the image.
Several veils lay on the ground, ripped away from the staff as they fled.
AQUARIUS
and promptly cursing under his breath.]
See, I was right. Everything this week was a terrible sign. [the sword disappears in a swirl of shadows, and he pauses to kind of lean against the wall. hm. hello.]

As Friday morning rolls around, you awaken with a start from wherever you fell asleep. The good news is that there's no paper receipt on your chest. You don't find yourself standing somewhere strange, as if you walked there without your knowledge. You're just exactly where you passed out, maybe with a crick in your neck, but otherwise, just fine.
However, something just feels off. The shadows that consumed a few rooms of the hotel are climbing the walls, rattling the portraits. Occasionally, they consume rooms entirely in black darkness, only to withdraw backwards a moment later as if yanked. The stairs flatten and turn to slides at a faster rate. Weapons fly out out of the armory at an alarming rate should you walk by, though they never once hit you, and walking down hallways occasionally feels like you're walking on a tightrope. Something strange is afoot, at the hotel.
Oh, and. Since it's a Friday...even if you spent the night with one of your unmasked staff members - when the morning has come, they're gone. Like usual, ringing bells, typing messages on typewriters, knocking on doors, or dialing phones get you no response.
It seems you might just be on your own. But that's fine, right?
