FAREWELL

As Sunday morning arrives…you may find yourself actually sleeping in? For the first time in several weeks, you do not find yourself awakening at 9am. You don’t have that slight nagging feeling that you’re going to be late. You don’t feel pressed to rush out the door and go somewhere.

The restaurant is currently serving a piping hot breakfast, and your luggage is packed nice and neatly. Somewhere outside, it’s almost like you can hear the pleasant chirping of birds.

And then…the hotel begins to rumble. It’s the same ominous, quaking movement, building swaying from side to side before the front door of the lobby suddenly bursts open. Your stay at the hotel is over, dear guests. But perhaps you ought to venture outside and see what’s new.

Along the grounds of the hotel are several portals that have been opened, dark swirling shadows that remain for you to venture through once you’re ready to depart. However, these portals work in two directions. While you have the understanding that stepping through one of these portals will send you wherever you’d like, you may notice there are people starting to exit through them.

Your hostages are safe. They are delivered one by one, unharmed and returned to you for you to bring them back where they belong. The original staff also appears to finally be released...do be careful with them.

But that’s not all. Every now and then the portal will flicker and someone new and unexpected will exit. Your friends from home may step through these portals. You may recognize some of these as people that you’ve met in your previous murder adventures, too. All of them seem to be in possession of a flyer that reads:

Congratulations! You’ve won an all-expenses paid visit to the Starlight Hotel. Check-in begins at 3. Please sign on the dotted line upon arrival.

You may want to warn them, actually.

You don’t have to be a guest of the hotel to enjoy its fine amenities one last time. All of the floors have been opened once again, and every room is accessible except for your previous bedrooms. You will also find that you’ve been unnerfed, powers you once possessed returning to you and back where they belong.

Everything is peaceful…until you hear the sound of the Nightman.

H̸o̷w̴ ̴c̸o̷u̸l̵d̸ ̵y̸o̴u̸ ̸n̵o̶t̶ ̸f̶i̷n̵d̷ ̴a̴ ̴l̷o̶o̵p̴h̴o̶l̴e̵?̷ ̸N̷o̴w̵ ̵t̴h̷e̴y̷'̴r̵e̶ ̸a̶l̷l̸ ̷f̶r̵e̸e̵!̵

Hm…too bad. It seems as though the proprietor of this hotel is unhappy with circumstances. But regardless of where you look, you wouldn’t be able to find him. Seems like he’s gone off to try and restructure his business model.

As a parting gift from the Starlight Hotel, you will find that your typewriters are now pocket-sized palm pilot models. You do want to stay in touch, don’t you? It’s been several long weeks for all of you…

…you can check out anytime you want, but you can finally leave.

Happy Golden End, friends! You may use this post to thread out your final day at the hotel. You can thread with your hostages if you'd like. In addition this post is open to past gamemates or canonmates. You are free to bring characters from previous games or their canonmates to play off of each other.

As the post states, everyone's powers are back and you have universal texting. Fun! Characters will be able to return to their own worlds or depart for another world of their choosing whenever they'd like to leave.

[Oh look, it's another recently-freed hostage! He seems a little groggy, like he's been asleep for some time, but he's also managed to grab a flyer from somewhere and is looking it over.]

An all-expenses paid trip, hmm? I wonder what this hotel is like. A vacation certainly sounds nice.

[Someone stop him, please.]

[ he just snatches the flyer from his hands, rips it up and then stalks off away from him ]

[He blinks in surprise a few times.

And then he'll go ahead and follow after Yuri.]

Not in the mood for a vacation?

[ closes his eyes ]

Were you asleep for eight weeks or something?

Eight weeks- You mean these past eight weeks? I've been locked up that entire time! All I knew was that you had gotten into some kind of trouble and that I couldn't go there to help you. Waiting that entire time and not knowing what had happened to you was awful!

[A pause.]

Are you saying that's connected to this hotel? I thought it was an apology-trip for being so inconvenienced...

I know you've been locked up that entire time, I was stuck in the hotel playing murder games round two with your life as the collateral.

[ sigh. ]

Do not go to the hotel. Ever.

[A murder hotel sounds absolutely awful. Hmm.

Time to step up next to Yuri and try to link arms with him.]

Well then! It sounds like we really do need a vacation. Far away from here, and without any murder or kidnapping. Maybe a beach somewhere warm?

[ he really does shoot his shot whenever wherever, huh? it does get a laugh out of yuri though. ]

Sure. After I'm done unpicking the post war mess back home. I doubt "sorry, was trying not to be murdered for eight weeks" would be very well received in the council.

[He missed Yuri a lot and just wants him to get the rest and relaxation he deserves.]

Oh, I don't know. Change up a few details and I think they might buy it. You'll have to leave out dimensional travel and murder hotels, but 'I got caught up by bandits' might be believable. Especially if you get plenty of people to corroborate the story.

I think at this point "I was caught up by bandits, definitely Adrestian bandits" might just fast track us towards war again.

Just say I kidnapped you for an extended vacation. Then all we have to do is spend some time actually at a vacation spot to play up the illusion of "a couple of fools having fun for the summer" and everyone will be none the wiser.

Admit it, you just really want to go to the beach.

[Aww. He smiles a little and cover's Yuri's hand with his own.]

I wouldn't want you to go back into those mind-numbing meetings until you're ready for it anyway. You've had a time of it here, I think.

[You look stressed, is what he's saying.]

I'm not against the idea of making Adrestia sit around for a while, honestly.

Excuse me? Do you have an idea how worried I was when I woke up and you were both gone?!

[He draws his hand to his chest quickly like he has been grievously injured.]

Shi Qingxuan! Come now, you know I wouldn't have left without notice if I had the choice.

[puffs her cheeks out at him]

Were you seriously considering going on some kind of vacation after all the worry you caused me? The both of you!

[He pokes at one of those puffed-out cheeks.]

I've been locked away! For eight weeks! Surely you can understand why I need some time to recover from such a dreadful experience.

Besides, you can come too.

There's bound to be some kind of catch, though! Like on the station!
