WEEK TWO: MINGLE

W̴͍̎E̴̝̊E̸͚͝K̸͕̿ TWO: MINGLE
(32 ḡ̴̻u̷͌͜ê̴̯s̶̢͑t̵̻͝s̴̡̐ ̴c̴h̴e̶c̴k̷e̶d̸ ̶i̴n̴)
Good morning, esteemed guests. What a terrible day to be awake. But perhaps it's a little easier now that you've experienced two executions...congratulations to you for the send-off of a teenage girl.
As you awaken on Monday, you’ll find that things are just as they were the night before. The kitchen will serve piping hot breakfast during the morning hours, the pool’s been stocked with fresh towels and the gardens are open for anyone who wishes to spend some time among nature. However, should you explore a bit, you’ll find that a few new changes have been made to the hotel itself.
Your room service menus are still on your desks if you wish to browse before leaving for the day.
The front door no longer spins endlessly, for one thing. Should you make an attempt to exit the hotel, you will find yourself entering a new location. Some of you may even find this place familiar.
In addition, should you enter the elevator you will find a new button appears, proudly reading 02. Pushing this button will take you to a new floor where you will also find a few new areas to peruse. Explore to your heart’s content, get to know more of the hotel, and take your time in learning more about each other.
You may be trying to learn about each other, but what do you do when you hardly recognize one another? It's unfortunate that this week is one where appearances are no longer a solid identifier. Throughout the week you will find your body taking on new features against your own will. Whether these are animalistic features, elemental features, feathers, shadows, stone, magma...extra eyes, fangs, wings...they will adapt to you and you'll hardly feel a thing. Time to get comfortable in your skin.
Finally, for those of you with a spare ticket in your pocket, feel free to visit the Starlight Gift Shop, stocked with new items for this week.

A THING
anyway, as you exit or make a move to, you'll find something strange happening. your feet move on their own, guiding you to a specific location.
once you stop, you and one other person are standing at the entrance to the simulation room!
two people in this thread, please!]
no subject
Anyway, Sheila is here? She glances at Dokja when they come to a stop in front of the simulations room.]
... No sick leave even for guests, huh? How are you feeling?
[What's going on when they peer inside the simulations room...? Unless y'all about to be like, psych! The door is jammed.]
no subject
he takes a moment to take in his company, greeting with a polite smile. ] Looks like it'll be us today, Sheila Hammond. [ a side glance to the room. ] I can still move around so I'd say could be worse.
[ it would be smart to be cautious and i hope the door is jammed because he's suddenly going to try and walk in, yes hello, what we got going today? a lovely location for our viewing mayhaps? or he can just run into a jammed door that would be funny. ]
no subject
anyway, as sheila and dokja try the door, they will find that it is not, in fact, jammed. the door swings open with ease, and the first thing the group is greeted with is not the blank slate of the simulation room, but instead, a cool breeze that lifts their hair and curls against their skin. take a deep breath in, kids: you can smell the brine in the air, and as they look up, dokja and sheila will realize that over their heads is a beautiful, vast sea of stars.
the two of them faintly hear the sound of boats bumping against some kind of a dock, just to their left. the dock itself is large, if shallow, and there are indeed several boats tied to it. the water is clear and blue, reflecting the starlight from above.
stretching out all the way to the end of the room, they can see austere white architecture and a large set of stairs that lead to a higher plateau. the occasional tree seems to be sitting among the white paved roads. there's a soft hubbub of a busy city, though no people are visible.
it's beautiful! who doesn't love a vacation!
where to? ]
no subject
[Please.
But when they head into the simulations room, she stops with a small, awed gasp. Just for a moment, as she glances around and takes in their surroundings.]
... It's beautiful. [And it's about to be ruined by the murder that totally happened last night, but she doesn't say that part.] Do you want to stick together? I mean, you're still kind of fucked up, so I'd feel bad ditching you in the middle of a corpse hunt.
[Dokja gets to pick where they go.]
no subject
[ Dokja glances up at the sea of stars when they enter and just, looks incredibly disinterested. maybe his opinion doesn't exactly go to "beautiful" first. he glances over at the sound of the boats-- i hate that i have to ask to clarify but are these olden wooden boats? or something more modern? or will he just not be able to tell. ]
I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to ditch me. [ it's a joke ] We should be fine though.
[ Jin stands steadily beside Dokja, sniffing at the air with ears perked and alerted with a quiet huff. Dokja focuses on the architecture with an observing stare before he makes for a direct line to the large set of stairs. ]
The stairs seem to be the most obvious path but we should keep an eye out just in case. [ y'know, on the chance something wants to lead them elsewhere. hehe? ]

it stays like that for a moment. two. and then suddenly, the lights blink out in the simulation room, and sheila and dokja are plunged into complete and utter darkness. damn faulty 1920s electricity!
a moment passes. maybe someone is having to fix the electricity. surely the shape of shadow that seems to be making the place even darker is just a trick of your eyes, right?
the brine smell is gone. the sound of the ocean is gone. the world is just plunged into total darkness.
well gosh. now what? ]
no subject
closes her goddamn eyes.]
You don't have a flashlight on you, do you?
[She carefully sticks out one footsie though, to kind of sweep the floor in front of her in case something is on the ground.]
no subject
Normally I have my cell phone on me, but not this round.
[ fortunately Dokja does have a fox daemon with him! and foxes are capable of seeing well in the dark as predators, so maybe Jin can be of help here. she does loop one of her many tails around Dokja's leg and another with Sheila's. sorry sheila don't get spooked. she can now be a guide... dog?
he squints helplessly in the dark. his vision is still shit. ]
Guess we'll be blindly checking in the dark until the power is fixed.
[ if. it's fixed. maybe they could stand around and wait? but Dokja seems to not be too cautious of looking around and starts to check around the area in front of him with Jin aiding him. and without any other word to sheila too. just going off on his own i guess. ]
no subject
as dokja starts to walk forward, he won't really feel anything out - but sheila, however, might feel her foot bump into something? it's small, and whatever it is shifts a little when she touches it, and then is moved with the arc of her foot. ]
no subject
[Sorry, Jin. She's gently wiggling her leg, either so Jin stops moving or lets go. Did the Thing roll away, or is it still close enough that she can carefully hold it in place with her foot, and then lean down to grab it.
Can you find the door again...? Maybe we can get some light in from the hallway.
no subject
[ Jin emits a few low-pitched cries, fur fluffing out. she is an anxious fox, but she will let go of Sheila! be free. find that bread. ]
..The door. Maybe. Assuming it isn't powered by electricity as well. [ he seems to contemplate, maybe. he could? it's probably just back the way they came but. he's more curious about whatever Sheila felt? he'll move a bit in her direction. just a lil step. ]
no subject
right as she grabs it, there's a whirring noise, like an engine being slowly cranked to life, and then the lights overhead suddenly flicker again, filling the plain white simulation room with light.
as sheila and kim dokja look down, they'll find what they're holding is soft. it's fluffy. it's...
....a bundle of hair...?
they get a couple of moments to examine it. but, not long; suddenly, shadows burst out of the ground and swirl around sheila's hand, and then engulf the two of them completely - both sheila and dokja black out, and when they come to again, they're standing outside of the simulation room door once again. if they reopen the door, they'll find it's back to a plain simulation room; the object is gone, and nothing is amiss.
thank god for those fancy invoices, huh? ]
