(33 ḡ̴̻u̷͌͜ê̴̯s̶̢͑t̵̻͝s̴̡̐ ̴c̴h̴e̶c̴k̷e̶d̸ ̶i̴n̴)
Good morning, esteemed guests. What a terrible day to be awake. Or perhaps it's not quite as terrible. The events of the day before were a bit extreme, but we hope you've had time to rest, regroup and refuel.
As you awaken on Monday, you’ll find that things are just as they were the night before. The kitchen will serve piping hot breakfast during the morning hours, the pool’s been stocked with fresh towels and the gardens are open for anyone who wishes to spend some time among nature. However, should you explore a bit, you’ll find that a few new changes have been made to the hotel itself.
Before you even leave your room, you will find two new items have been placed on your desk. Be sure to peruse the room service menus before you start your day!
The front door no longer spins endlessly, for one thing. Should you make an attempt to exit the hotel, you will find yourself entering a new location. Some of you may even find this place familiar.
In addition, should you enter the elevator you will find a new button appears, proudly reading 01. Pushing this button will take you to a new floor where you will also find a few new areas to peruse. Explore to your heart’s content, get to know more of the hotel, and take your time in learning more about each other.
There are several things that one may keep close to the chest. Secrets, thoughts, and most importantly emotions. In a situation such as this where the stakes are high and the questions are piling up, you may find yourself trying to conceal everything and hold back your feelings. However, that isn't the Starlight way. This week, you will find yourself a bit uncomfortable, almost as if there's something deeply lodged in your chest. Drinking doesn't help, and clearing your throat hardly works either. Before you know it, you find yourself coughing up a handful of flowers. The type of flowers may vary but they come in different shades, all representing your hidden feelings. Inconvenient, isn't it? You may wish to carry a bag around this week to collect your stray emotions before someone slips.
Finally, for those of you with a spare ticket in your pocket, feel free to visit the Starlight Gift Shop, stocked with new items for this week.

A THING
On Friday morning, you awaken to the loud sounds of a typewriter tapping away at a message, and a shrill ding! as a line completes.
Strangely, there's no printout on your typewriter, if you're near one. Instead, when you open your eyes, there's a folded piece of paper on your chest that looks a little something like this.

[ considering hua cheng wasn't allowed to change out of uniform any during chasma, he finds this particular addition rather curious.
it's probably tanhua that you spot, first, sitting in the doorway but not taking up the whole space. his tails all flick when he hears someone coming, and he glances back with his right eye closed, before looking forward again and letting out a raspy yap.
his person's head leans back out of a row of... red clothhes. so much fucking red. gotta admire the dedication to his aesthetic. ] Interesting variety they have in here.
[ alternatively, he's just browsing - and makes a stank face at something that looks like its excess of fabric is made of a night sky. ]
II. aurora barealis
[ you'd be forgiven for missing where hua cheng is, here, too, at first. but his black boots and the silver chains and charms on it can be seen on the very edge of one of the nook tables, ankles crossed as he sits back in the cushions with a drink.
where's his daemon this time? the dog-sized fox is sniffing the piano as it plays notes. he reaches up with a mud colored paw to press down a key, before snatching it back again after. ]
III. prism..?
[ he sort of stands out like a sore thumb no matter which location you want to explore with him, arms crossed as he squints like he's cat no banana. ]
IV. wildcard!
[ yeet a starter at me or hit me up on

[ He's in here holding up this costume by the shoulders. Yes, the gloves and domino mask are part of it. Don't ask how. I will allow the boots to be on the floor nearby.
It is visibly too small in his hands. He's frowning at it. As if he is disgruntled that he is too beefy to wear it, perhaps. ]
b. prism - it's the fucking moon, bitches
Huh.
[ Now Bucky is on the moon. He's just walking around casually, looking around at everything. He gives the moon bunnies a raised eyebrow, but otherwise ignores them in favor of...kicking moon dust around? Drawing patterns in the sand with his foot. They are absolutely incomprehensible. ]
Wasn't expecting this place to give me a "Day as the Boss", but anything's possible out here, I guess.
c. prism - softe creachers
[ oh god. It's happening. Bucky is sitting in the petting zoo absolutely surrounded, almost drowning, in precious neon animals. There is a baby goat in his lap. Little chicks line his shoulders and roost on his head. Ducks and rabbits are nestled at his side and intertwined through his legs. He's trapped, and he looks absolutely at a loss for what to do now.
Hesitantly, like he's afraid of them, he reaches a hand out to slowly, gently pat a duck on the head. He looks like he's waiting for signs that it will attack him. ]

Yes, multiple eyepatches. He's wearing one over each eye right now and snickering to himself. He can't see but he still looks confident in himself.]

MINI-EVENT
On Wednesday morning, you are all awoken to a strange clicking noise. When you seek out the source, a ding! is heard and a message is on display.
Welcome to your second mini event! This is another free-for-all style mini event, so please feel free to hop in and engage with whichever prompts you want.
To receive rewards for this mini event, your mods would like to see a contribution of 5-10 comments beyond a top level. Try to interact with people outside of your original games! Please turn in your mini event participation here.
A second part to this mini event will be posted at 6PM EST/3PM PST. Feel free to use the coordination channel and top levels channel for bumps!
MINI-EVENT PART 1
[ Picking up the paintball guns will put you in the competitive spirit! What a fun way to spend an afternoon. However, as you begin to play you may notice a few things.
▶︎ On occasion, hitting someone with a paintball of a certain color will inflict them with a small new ability.
▶︎ Sometimes, you will find yourself running straight into one of the mysterious doors on either level, trapping you and your competitor inside until you complete the goal of that door.
▶︎ As you play, injuries inflicted by a paintball will grow worse and you will begin to feel sluggish, almost as if your lifeforce is draining.
▶︎ The scenery of the hotel begins to warp. Flickers of grey flash before your eyes, hallucinations of broken glass, overturned furniture, etc, will become harder and harder to shake off. Don't trip, now. ]

A THING... 1/2
FROM: h.estheim
TO: ALL
Good morning, everyone.
Please meet me in the lobby today at noon. I believe we have things to discuss regarding exploration of the hotel; Hua Cheng and I will explain in more detail at the designated time.
Thank you for your time.
- Hope Estheim
[ that seems to be it... until, as an addendum maybe thirty seconds later: ]
P.S. Take care tonight.
[ it's thursday, after all.
once gathered, hope will greet everyone with a nod. as he mentioned in his message, hua cheng is also with him, standing with his arms crossed and tanhua standing on the other side, seemingly patiently waiting.
after it seems like people are done filtering in, he clears his throat to bring attention to himself at the front of the room. he holds himself confidently, with the air of someone who has done this sort of thing a lot. ]
Thank you again for coming today. Some of you may have noticed that the locked room on the newest floor is now open. After noticing a new golden plate on it declaring it "housekeeping," Hua Cheng and I were able to get into it yesterday afternoon. True to its name, the room contained cleaning supplies and amenities, along with some other... interesting articles of interest.
Of particular note, as far as things I personally investigated go, was a binder and clipboard, both containing notes regarding the hotel and its upkeep. Unfortunately, like the items in our personal rooms, neither of these items were able to be removed, and any notes I attempted to take were erased as soon as we exited.
The clipboard had the date listed as "week 2, day 3," along with an inventory of the locations currently available to us. The paper had two columns: "assignments," which consisted of a list of the locations currently available to us; and "assigned to," which was left blank.
I can't remember the exact details of what I read in the binder, but they were bits of commentary about our actions around the hotel. The ones I do recall were particularly focused on reports of destruction in the hallway rooms and locations related to last week's trial.
/2
Nothing of particular interest was in the boxes or closet, unless you need more sheets for your beds or various cleaning supplies. A few uniforms. There were trash bags outside when we were in the hall originally, but nothing was in there except what I assume was cleaned up from our escapades this week.
My recomendation is that, if you're going to go in there to mess with anything extensively, don't go alone. Especially if you investigate the trash chute. It shouldn't have been able to fit anything large, but my checking the top and Tanhua going down into it were both perfectly fine. Don't test your luck without making preparations and having someone to make sure you don't fall in, or it doesn't close on you.
Nothing was retrieved from the chute, except for the figure that Estheim tossed down there to see if we could hear when it hit the bottom. We couldn't. I'm not even sure how far I lowered Tanhua before he hit the bottom.
[ the dog-sized fox is clearly sitting there and looking perfectly fine, though, so he did this willingly. ]
But the lights flickered while we were inspecting the trash chute. Nothing seemed amiss when they returned to normal, until we noticed that our shadows were... different. It felt like we were being closely watched. I can't say for certain if the sensation came from our own shadows, or an outside source.
With more time, the lights flickered again - and the shadows were visibly moving, stretching for the door before returning to their place. Reminiscent of the shadows that we saw on Sunday, in some ways.
When we were back in the hall again, everything was restored. No trash bags, no flickering light, no ominous shadows.

because suddenly, the pleasant, sunny atmosphere is interrupted by a shadowy portal, whirling to life above the entire area. something drops unceremoniously out from the hole with a splash, right into the deep center of the pool.
and so dimitri just lands in the water like so much dead weight. some thick, black ooze bleeds off his clothes and stains the water, along with something thinner and redder, the smell of rot and death joining them through the portal. he just floats there idly, face-down, when... ]

those near the aurora barealis may hear the faint sounds of piano music echoing from behind its doors. upon stepping inside, the music swells in a triumphant fanfare, played by a shadowy pianist. the lights swing towards center stage, as though prepared for a performance, though what it could be of is anyone’s guess.
that is, until the red velvet curtains shudder and a masked kaeya stumbles out onto the stage first. The most obvious thing one might notice is his extremely tattered coat that looks to be torn hastily around the bottom. he’s limping forward slowly as he takes a look at where it is they’ve landed, his hand pressed tightly to his hip. of course, as kaeya realizes precisely where they are, he straightens up a little. in doing so too quickly, he winces, and it’s clear why—claw marks razed across his chest like he’s been… fighting a large cat of some kind? his sleeves are in tatters as well, and his arms and hands are covered in bite marks.
ah. and one of the fingers on his left hand is missing. neat.
he’s going to just conjure up his voice, dry and hoarse, turning to the other: ] We’re back… [ and then as loudly as he can towards the door ] In here! Quickly!
2/? (cw: eye gore)
one of his shirt sleeves is very torn, blood seeping into the white fabric from a wound on his arm. part of the vest and shirt over his back has been cut open, with another wound below that space. the most notable thing is near the mask, though. there's blood seeping into the mask's leather and down the left side of his face. it's probably due to the dagger that's currently sticking out of his left eye. that also prompts him to say:]
Please get it out - someone who knows what they're doing, please—
[he's getting his wish pretty quickly, because the dagger immediately poofs into stardust now that they've arrived. the sudden lack of blade means the wound is bleeding heavier for a second as he makes a pained noise, pressing a hand over his mask. the blood is sprinkled with the stardust as it flutters down gently. the piano keeps playing this jaunty little tune. nice.
after a few seconds, now that the dagger problem is "solved", he looks over his shoulder, concerned, at someone else emerging.]
